November to December is the busiest stretch of the year for most Singapore F&B operators. Company dinners, Christmas gatherings and New Year’s Eve fill the calendar, and diners are more willing to spend and to try somewhere new. That makes restaurant year-end promotions in Singapore one of the most important campaigns you will run all year.
The problem is how most of them are run. A discount sticker on the menu. A post on Instagram. A “10% off all December” deal that goes to everyone, including guests who would have paid full price anyway.
If you have a CRM, there is a better way. Run your limited-time offers through your member list, and you control who gets the deal, when it ends, and whether it actually brings people back.
Why Run Restaurant Year-End Promotions Through Your CRM
A blanket discount lowers your margin on every bill. A CRM promotion targets the guests you actually want to move.
- It goes to the right people. Lapsed members get a reason to return. Regulars get a thank-you. Walk-ins who would pay full price are not discounted.
- It ends on time. A scheduled campaign switches off on its end date. No one has to remember to remove a sign.
- It applies itself. When the offer lives in the CRM, it is applied at the POS, kiosk or QR order automatically. Staff do not need to key in codes during a packed Friday service.
- You can measure it. You see exactly how many members redeemed, what they spent and whether they came back.
Step 1: Pick Who Your Year-End Promotion Is For
Do not send one offer to your whole list. Split it into three groups and give each one a different job.
- Lapsed members, who have not visited in 60 to 90 days. The goal is one return visit. A strong, time-limited voucher works best here, such as a free dessert or $10 off before 15 December.
- Regulars and top spenders. The goal is to make them feel valued, not to discount them. Try a member-only festive item, early access to Christmas Eve bookings or bonus points.
- New members who joined this year. The goal is a second visit, because that is where most loyalty is won or lost. A small “come back in December” voucher does the job.
If you already run birthday and anniversary promos through your CRM, the same member data powers these segments.
Step 2: Build a Year-End Offer With a Clear Deadline
Limited-time offers work because of the deadline. Make it visible and make it real.
- Set a start and end date in the campaign scheduler, for example 1 to 24 December.
- Put the end date in the message itself: “Valid until 24 Dec.”
- Cap redemptions per member so one guest cannot use the voucher five times.
- Exclude your busiest nights if you are already fully booked. There is no need to discount a table you would have filled anyway.
Step 3: Use Stored Value to Bring Cash In Before January
January and early February are slow for many restaurants, until Chinese New Year bookings pick up. Year-end is the best time to fix that in advance.
Run a stored-value top-up promotion: “Top up $500, get $50 free” for December only. Members give you cash up front during your strongest month. They also commit to coming back to spend it during your quietest one. Stored-value top-ups also make easy, popular corporate gifts at year-end. (More on why stored value works so well in a restaurant CRM.)
Step 4: Protect Your Margins on Year-End Promotions
A year-end promotion that fills the restaurant at a loss is not a win. Before you launch:
- Price the offer against food cost, not against the menu price.
- Prefer a free item or bonus points over a percentage discount. They cost you less than they are worth to the guest.
- Steer promotions to slower days, such as Monday to Wednesday, and keep Friday and Saturday at full price.
- Use member-only pricing on a few festive items rather than cutting prices across the whole menu.
Step 5: Measure What the Year-End Promotion Actually Did
When the campaign ends, look at three numbers in your CRM reports:
- Redemption rate: how many members used the offer.
- Spend per redeeming member compared with your normal average bill.
- Return visits in January: did the people who redeemed come back without a voucher?
The third number is the one that matters. A good year-end promotion does not just fill December. It sets up your first quarter.
