PSG vs EDGE Grant: What Changed for Singapore F&B Tech Funding

For years, PSG was the default way Singapore restaurants funded new technology. Since 30 September 2026, that’s changed: PSG, EDG and MRA have been folded into a single scheme, the EDGE Grant. If you’re comparing PSG vs EDGE grant support for a POS, kiosk or QR ordering system, here’s what actually changed — and what didn’t.

What Stayed the Same

For a typical SME restaurant, the headline number hasn’t moved. Up to 50% support, S$30,000 a year for digital solutions. If you were budgeting for a PSG-funded kiosk, the EDGE maths is the same.

You still apply on the Business Grants Portal, you still use pre-approved solutions for things like POS and kiosks, and you still pay first and claim after.

What Changed for Singapore F&B Operators

1. One scheme, one cap

EDGE has an overall S$100,000 annual cap across all activities — technology, market expansion, sustainability and more. Restaurant tech draws from a S$30,000 sub-cap within that. If you also plan to expand overseas or invest in sustainability, those come out of the same S$100,000.

2. Bigger groups can now apply

Non-SMEs can get up to 30%. For larger F&B groups, that’s new money on the table for a multi-outlet POS or kiosk rollout.

3. No more SFEC stacking

Many operators used the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) to cover part of the remaining cost under PSG. EDGE isn’t supportable under SFEC. Final SFEC claims for programmes under the old schemes are due by 30 November 2026. If you have a PSG project with an SFEC element, don’t miss that date.

4. Stricter rules on who submits

Under EDGE, only your own staff with BGP Preparer or Acceptor Corppass roles can submit applications and claims. Vendors and corporate secretaries can’t do it for you.

5. Clear rules on the 70% figure

You may have seen “up to 70%” quoted for EDGE. That rate is for internationalisation and sustainability activities. For a POS, kiosk or QR ordering system, it’s up to 50% for SMEs.

Worked Examples

Single-outlet café, SME, S$12,000 POS + QR ordering
– Under PSG: up to S$6,000 support
– Under EDGE: up to S$6,000 support
– Your net cost: around S$6,000 either way — but no SFEC top-up under EDGE

Three-outlet SME chain, S$70,000 kiosk rollout
– 50% would be S$35,000, but the S$30,000 digital cap applies
– Your net cost: around S$40,000
– Tip: phase the rollout across two grant years (the cap resets every 1 April) to make more of the support

Larger F&B group (non-SME), S$50,000 POS upgrade
– Under EDGE: up to 30% = S$15,000
– Something that was harder to fund before

Actual amounts depend on the approved scope and Enterprise Singapore’s assessment.

What If You Already Applied for PSG?

If you submitted a PSG application before 30 September 2026, it will still be assessed under PSG rules. Ongoing PSG projects continue to completion and claim. But don’t apply under EDGE for the same project — EDGE is for new projects only.

What to Do Now

  1. If you have a PSG project in progress: finish it, claim it, and file any SFEC claims by 30 November.
  2. If you were waiting for the new scheme: EDGE is open. Get a quotation and check your solution is on the pre-approved list.
  3. If you’re a larger group: check whether the 30% non-SME support makes a rollout viable now.
